Knottingley Judo Club can be found in St Botolphs parish rooms on Thursday evenings. We pride ourselves on the fun, friendly, family atmosphere in the club and welcome all new members regardless of experience and ability.
The club is run by Ian Sidaway with the help of Catriona Barber, Garry Turner and Kieran Reynolds.
All coaches are fully qualified, DBS checked and first aid trained.

ABOUT THE CLUB
PROVIDING JUDO SESSIONS SINCE 1970
Knottingley Judo Club has gained an incredible reputation over the years and produced champion Judokas, county champions, even commonwealth participants, and quite a few masters.
Olympic Judokas have visited the club over the years.
EVERYTHING YOU NEED
TO KNOW
THE JUDO GRADING SYSTEM
SHO GRADES
Sho grades are for 5 - 8 year olds. These involve the children getting used to the movements involved in Judo. There are 9 different belts, which focus on fun packed Judo related activities
MON GRADES
Mon grades are for 8 - 17 year olds. They involve both theory and practical elements.
KYU GRADES
Kyu grades are for 14 years and above. The Kyu grade system is a feature of Judo with promotion to different colour belts based on technical ability, knowledge and understanding.
DAN GRADES
Dan grades are for Judoka who are 15+ years and have moved on from completing the Kyu grade system.
WHY YOU SHOULD GET A JUDO MEMBERSHIP
The British Judo club membership includes insurance, allows you to grade and fight in competitions. The insurance covers for personal accident and public liability making it at 'no fault' to any party, if it is recognised by the association under judo activities The membership needs to be renewed every 12 months.
